Dutch Exam Preparation

If you intend to live in the Netherlands for a prolonged period or permanently, you are expected to have a basic knowledge of the Dutch language and society. The Basic Civic Integration Examination Abroad (Basisexamen Inburgering Buitenland) is taken in your country of origin or habitual residence before you travel to the Netherlands, if you require an authorisation for temporary stay (MVV).

In this course, we start from scratch. The Civic Integration Examination Abroad is the start of your integration.

Have you gotten your residence permit? And are you already living in the Netherlands? Then you will need to prepare for and complete the Civic Integration Examination (Inburgeringsexamen) in the Netherlands. You are integrated when you have passed this examination.

Please note that it is possible to take a Staatsexamen NT2 in either Programma I or Programma II instead.

The Dutch as a Second Language State Exam NT2 or Staatsexamen NT2 (Staatsexamen Nederlands als Tweede Taal) is intended for (young) adults who would like to work or study in the Netherlands. There are two programmes.

• Programme I (B1 level)
  You can follow Programme I (B1 level) if you want to work in the Netherlands or Belgium, or want to study in Dutch at secondary vocational education level.

• Programme II (B2 level)
  You can follow Programme II (B2 level) if you want to work or study at a higher professional or university level.

The Certificate Dutch as a Foreign Language or CNaVT (Certificate Nederlands als Vreemde Taal)  is the certificate for (young) adults who wish to learn Dutch and prove their language proficiency in Dutch with an internationally recognized certificate for work or study purposes. The CNaVT exams are organised all around the world in over 40 countries.

The CNaVT has five different levels of exams to cater for all the different purposes students have for learning Dutch:

• Maatschappelijk Informeel (INFO) – A2
  For those who want to demonstrate that they can manage in informal everyday situations.

• Maatschappelijk Formeel (FORM) – B1
  For those who want to demonstrate that they can manage independently in more formal contexts in Dutch or Flemish society.

• Zakelijk Professioneel (PROF) – B2
  For those who need Dutch for their career, more specifically in healthcare and administration occupations.

• Educatief Startbekwaam (STRT) – B2
  For those who would like to study at a Flemish or Dutch institution of higher education.

• Educatief Professioneel (EDUP) – C1
  For those who want to demonstrate that they can command the Dutch language proficiently in education or business and therefore need Dutch language skills training at a high level.
